By Alex Juschin Account onMonday, May 04, 2009
I guess many of you have already downloaded the new Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) and it might be that you, just like me, have already installed previous versions of Windows 7 Beta (just go to Start -> Run.. -> winver , to see your build version) - like 7000, 7057 or 7077 or alike downloaded from Technet or MSDN or from Microsoft Connect website. The previous Beta's worked stable so you might have installed a lot of applications on it which you, just like me, don't want to reinstall. However one of the requirments of installation of Release Candidate is:

Dell XPS M1330 8GB support! It works with A13 AND ALSO A14 Bios!
By Alex Juschin Account onWednesday, November 12, 2008

Ok this one is not really related to SBC or Virtualization. No wait it does! When presenting somewhere or when willing to play with my TS or Citrix environment I have to connect to my DC to get the proper HW since the M1330 only supported 4GB max. Not really great wo have 5 systems on VmWare Workstation.
Dell XPS M1330 is just great - great monitor, small weight, great extended battery life - everything what you need. So 8GB support was the last bit I missed. Now you can!

First you need a 8GB kit. A good and affordable one is from G-Skill
G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300):

cost like 230 EUR in Europe

DONT Install the 8GB into your Notebook yet, you have to update BIOS!
Download the latest BIOS for your M1330 here:

Uninstall / Removal of RDP 6.0 or 6.1 from Windows XP SP2
By Alex Juschin Account onSunday, November 02, 2008
When you have a Windows XP SP2 and you installed RDP 6.0 either via a Hotfix or vie Windows Update or you have Installed RDP / RDC 6.1 then then it is quite simple to uninstall it:

1) First find out what version of RDP you have on your clinet. Start menu -> RUN -> mstsc.exe  (the left upper corner - mouse click - About - if it says ( 6.0.6000) its RDP 6 if it says (6.0.6001) its RDP 6.1

2) Second based on the information above - go to Windows folder and look for in case of RDP 6 for folder called ($NtUninstallKB925876$) or in case of RDP 6.1 ($NtUninstallKB952155$), then run FROM the folder \spuninst

spuninst.exe

DONE!

Remote Desktop Client 6.1 (RDP 6.1) installation on Windows 2003 Server
By Alex Juschin Account onMonday, September 15, 2008
Many of you know already that there is RDP 6.1 client for Windows XP SP2, but some of you have been looking for a way to install RDP 6.1 on the Windows 2003 Server. As such Windows 2003 Server support only RDP 6.0 which you can obtain either by download or by an update from Windows Update. The Version that comes with the current SP2 version of W2003 is 5.2.

So to Install the RDP 6.1 on the Windows 2003 first download the 6.1 Client from Microsoft webpage:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=952155

after you downloaded this small 1,6MB package go to the folder where you downloaded it to and Right Click on the File, Choose "Compatibility" Tab and select "Windows XP", click on Apply and OK.

Now you can start the installation without Windows saying it wasn't meant for this OS.
