Ok this one is not really related to SBC or Virtualization. No wait it does! When presenting somewhere or when willing to play with my TS or Citrix environment I have to connect to my DC to get the proper HW since the M1330 only supported 4GB max. Not really great wo have 5 systems on VmWare Workstation. Dell XPS M1330 is just great - great monitor, small weight, great extended battery life - everything what you need. So 8GB support was the last bit I missed. Now you can! First you need a 8GB kit. A good and affordable one is from G-Skill G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231210 cost like 230 EUR in Europe DONT Install the 8GB into your Notebook yet, you have to update BIOS! Download the latest BIOS for your M1330 here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R202137&SystemID=XPS_M1330&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=14178&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=8&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=1&fileid=280900 Run the file, after reboot you will have A13 BIOS which support new Intell CPU's and also 8GB. UPDATE: It also work with A14. Stable and without any issues. Have you had a chance to test it with BIOS V A14? Have heard reports it doesn't work.

I have finally had a chance to try it with different OS's: Both Vista Ultimate 64 Bit and Windows 2008 64 bit work fine. I also have updated it to A14 BIOS and it still works and I havent found any problems! 8GB is just so sweet - 9 Virtual Machines in VmWare Workstation - run @perfect speed. Just what I need for my Classes & Workshops!

There are reports that A14 bios update for M1330 does not support 8GB of memory. Are you sure that all 8GB are recognized with A14?

Works with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition as well.

there seems to be conflicting reports out there. does a14 bios really support 8gb ram? Some say 8gb support was taken out from a14 contrary to your experience.

Guys - A14 does work! I mean I'm on the box now with A14 upgraded from A13 and the 8GB are still there and still fully accessible!

It should work because dell is now shipping their m1330 with 8gb ram optional upgrades

I'm UK (memoryc sells to UK), but that site dont have that kit, they have single 4gb cards tho (not in stock unfortunately) but they cost 175 each so thats 350 pounds, why do you say it should cost 230 euros? (around 200 pounds), thats an insane price difference?
Did you buy them from memoryc.ie? Im thinking maybe the dual pack was much cheaper than a single maybe, I wonder why they stopped selling that in that case.

Also any other brand cost like £560 for 2x4gb, why is gskills so cheap?

I bought mine 8GB almost half a year ago and the price then was like 400 USD - in the US. In Europe - at the time it cost like 230 EUR - memory.ie . I guess those sticks are very popular now. I would try on Ebay :-)
